On December 4th, the Second Western Conference on Integration and Innovation of Exhibition Industry was held in Chongqing. Nearly 500 experts, scholars, and business representatives from 23 exhibition cities, such as Xiamen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Xi 'an, Chengdu, Kunming, Inner Mongolia, etc., focused on industry trends and cooperation mechanisms, and jointly offered suggestions for the development of the western exhibition industry. Huang Biao, President of the Changzhou Convention and Exhibition Association (CCEA), was invited to attend and delivered a keynote speech.

Qu Weixi, president of the China Convention and Exhibition Society (CCES), said in his speech that in recent years, the average annual growth rate of the Chongqing exhibition market has exceeded 10%. With the continuous expansion of exhibition scale and frequent exhibition activities, Chongqing has become one of the core exhibition cities in western China. He suggested that Chongqing should fully seize the national strategic opportunities, such as Belt and Road, New Western Development, Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle, etc., based on Chongqing, to strengthen the coordinated development of exhibition industries in major exhibition cities and regions in western China, and to strengthen the linkage with the major domestic exhibition cities, then to realize the complementary advantages and the mutual support of the resources in the region, and to fully drive the linkage development of the exhibition industry clusters in Western cities.

Chu Xiangyin, the Chief Researcher of the China Convention and Exhibition Society (CCES) and Professor of University of International Business and Economics, delivered a keynote speech titled "New Journey, New Trend, New Mission". He pointed out that from January to September this year, a total of 3,248 exhibitions were held in domestic professional exhibition halls, a year-on-year increase of 1.8 times. The total exhibition area of 76.86 million square meters has exceeded the whole year of 2019. When it comes to the future trend, 'green and low-carbon, multi-exhibition joint organization, online and offline integrated development, etc.' will be the new direction of the development of the exhibition industry, "In the future, more and more exhibitions related to the theme will be jointly held, and each theme will be presented in front of the audience in the form of mutual integration, and enhance the industrial integration of cross-industry and cross-consumer groups."

At the conference, Huang Biao, rotating chairman and secretary-general of the China Association of Exhibition Centers (CAEC) and president of the Changzhou Convention and Exhibition Association (CCEA), delivered a keynote speech on the theme of "Realizing Green Exhibition and Promoting High-quality Development of Chinese Exhibition Industry". Huang said that high-quality development is a new starting point for the Chinese exhibition industry. Marketization, branding, greening, digitization, internationalization and specialization are the keys to building a new pattern of development of the exhibition industry. He said that the high-quality development of the Chinese exhibition industry needs three "transformations" : first, "emphasis on quantity" to "improve quality", second, from "scale expansion" to "structural upgrading", and third, from "element-driven" to "innovation-driven". He believes that the exhibition industry should achieve high-quality development by innovating the development model, optimizing the industrial structure, promoting international cooperation, driving the green development of the exhibition industry, and providing more high-quality and sustainable exhibition services.

The conference also held the Chongqing University Exhibition Professional Vocational Skills Competition at the same time.
